5 Social Media Post Ideas
- Spring cleaning for your finances: While your clients are cleaning their homes and tossing old stuff they never use anymore, you have the opportunity to prompt them to go through and organize their financial paperwork. You could even use an anecdote about your own experience being disorganized with your financial information. My husband just found an old savings account he had forgotten about that he opened up through his church years ago—it was a pleasant surprise to learn it had grown to hundreds of dollars!
- Identity theft protection: Identity theft has become a really hot issue with more and more people becoming victims each year. Add in some statistics, and show how much of a problem it is in our society. Then help your clients protect themselves by informing them about how to be smart with online shopping, giving out their credit card, and changing passwords for their financial accounts regularly. Give them the tips they need to protect themselves.
- Teaching your kids about budgeting: It’s never a bad time to start budgeting! Whether kids are still in diapers or just getting their driver’s license, they will notice how their parents handle their money. It’s important to teach them fundamental values before they head off to college and suddenly have to manage money on their own. Provide some ideas for your clients to bring up the discussion and set up some structure in their homes.
- Build in rewards: Saving and paying down debt constantly can burn you out (even with the success of getting rid of the burden of debt). You can’t pinch every penny without starting to hate budgeting. Don’t let budgeting become a bad word in your clients’ household and give them tips on building in little rewards as they meet their financial goals.
- Offer a free event: Find a space you can rent for free—OR host a webinar, and offer a class about budgeting or one of the other financial concerns covered in our monthly post ideas. Invite people by spreading the word via social media, flyer boards at local hangouts, and you could even send some direct mail. Again, you want to offer value without being too self-promotional. If they like what you have to say, they’ll probably stay after to grab a card, chat, or set up an appointment without you having to prompt them to do so. Keep your introduction brief and stick to what they came to learn about.
Be Compliant. Don’t recommend a specific product (annuity, life insurance, etc.), and don’t talk about carriers or their products. As always, you should refer to our post on Steps to Compliance.
